Anti-aging Superfoods: From The Inside Out

Did you know that what you eat can directly affect you in a beautiful way? Eating the right amounts of superfoods can help with aging. Anti-aging benefits from the vitamins and mineral in some of the foods you eat can fight wrinkles, age spots, and lackluster skin. Take care of your health and beauty by eating some of these superfoods, because they will make you glow from the inside out. By incorporating them in your daily diet you’ll get nutritional boosts that will also make you feel good. Feeling great, and looking stunning? Sounds like a win-win situation to me. So pass the veggies!

WILD SALMON- The key ingredient in wild salmon is the Omega-3 Fatty Acids. This nourishing ingredient will help to make your hair softer, shinier and more lustrous. Try to consume at least 3 servings per week of 4-6 ounces of this super fish. You can have wild salmon grilled atop a bed of spinach for an excellent lunch choice.

GREEN TEA- Polyphenols are the part of the tea leaf that aid in boosting the anti-inflammatory response in your body. This will help keep your scalp and hair follicles in peak condition helping promote faster hair growth. Aim for one or two cups of green tea per day. Just watch out for the caffeine which can dehydrate you if you overdo it.

DARK CHOCOLATE- Everybody’s favorite sweet snack! The cocoa flavanols actually improve blood flow and circulation to the scalp. You scalp will be more nourished creating a much less dry hair shaft and cortex. Sadly, only 1 ounce or 150 calories of this tasty chocolate is all you need to reap the benefit without too much of a caloric backlash.

TOMATOES- Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that helps to prevent sun damage in your skin and hair. It actually works better when it’s heated so try out some recipes with homemade marinara sauce. Aim for 5 portions of about ¼ quarter cup sauce per week.

BELL PEPPERS & BROCCOLI- The natural vitamin C in both of these veggies will benefit your hair, and help your body absorb other naturally occurring vitamins. VItamin C helps to produce collagen which will help you cells turn over faster creating a healthier hair follicle. Aim to have at least 1 cup fresh or ½ cup cooked of either of these green veggies each day.

SPINACH- The iron in this leafy green will give your hair more fullness and body. One cup of fresh or ½ cup frozen 3 times per week is easy to achieve with a simple daily spinach salad. Don’t forget to throw a few orange slices into the salad for extra vitamin C to aid in the iron absorbtion of the spinach. Other recipes like a spinach veggie lasagna are sure to please even the pickiest of eaters.
